About Dromineer (Lough Derg)

Dromineer is Tipperary's designated bathing water — a lakeshore beach at the pretty harbour village of Dromineer on Lough Derg, about 12km from Nenagh. Rated Good in the latest EPA classification, it is the hub of a lively stretch of the lake: Dromineer Bay Sailing Club is one of the oldest freshwater sailing clubs in Ireland, the Lough Derg Blueway offers kayaking, and a ruined castle stands on the shore. The harbour, the moored boats and the wide lake views give it a real sense of place. Dromineer shares Lough Derg with the designated beaches at Ballycuggeran and Mountshannon in Clare and Portumna in Galway — the Lough Derg lakeshore family.
