About Ballycrenane

Ballycrenane is a sandy beach at the eastern end of the Ballycotton Bay strand line and a well-known beach-fishing spot. There is a car park with good access down to the sand, making it an easy place to reach on the East Cork coast. It marks the end point of the low-tide beach walk that begins at Silver Strand in Ballycotton village and runs east for roughly 4 miles through Ballynamona, Ardnahinch and Garryvoe, with stepping stones across the stream at Ardnahinch along the way. There is no lifeguard, and the strand is tide-dependent, so check the tide times before you set out and never let the incoming water cut you off. Quiet and open, Ballycrenane is a favourite with anglers and walkers alike.

At low tide these strands join into a near-continuous 4-mile walk running east from Silver Strand at Ballycotton village through Ballynamona, Ardnahinch and Garryvoe to Ballycrenane, with stepping stones across the stream at Ardnahinch. Only attempt it on a falling or low tide, and check the tide times before you set out.
