About White Strand, Doonbeg
White Strand at Doonbeg is a sheltered Blue Flag beach on the west Clare coast, a curve of golden sand beside the village and the famous Doonbeg links golf course. Lifeguarded in summer with safe, gently shelving water, it is a quiet, family-friendly beach away from the busier resorts. Backed by dunes and looking out to the Atlantic, it pairs clean water with a relaxed, unspoilt setting on the Wild Atlantic Way.
The safe alternative to wild Doughmore
Sheltered and lifeguarded, White Strand is the safe place to swim beside neighbouring Doughmore Bay, whose shifting sands and strong currents make it unsafe for bathing.
