About Tramore Beach
Tramore is Waterford's great Blue Flag surf beach, a five-kilometre sweep of golden sand backed by dunes and the lively seaside resort town. Lifeguarded in summer, it is one of the south-east's premier surf beaches with consistent waves and several surf schools, plus a long promenade and amusements. A classic Irish seaside resort with room to walk for miles.
From the amusements to the quiet dunes
Tramore's five-kilometre crescent has two very different ends. The town end has the promenade, the amusements and the surf schools, and it is the busy, family heart of the resort. Walk west and the crowds thin out into the quiet dunes and back strand running toward Brownstown Head, where you can have long stretches of sand largely to yourself. Above the far headland the swimming coves of Guillamene and Newtown, and the Metalman beacon, look back over the whole bay.
