About Newtown Cove

Newtown Cove is a sheltered Green Coast swimming cove near Tramore in Waterford, a small rocky inlet of clear, deep water beside the famous Guillamene. There is no lifeguard, so swimming should be taken with care, but it is a beloved spot for sea swimmers, reached through Newtown woods, with a slipway and steps into the water rather than a sandy beach. It offers a gentler entry than the deep steps at the neighbouring Guillamene.

Nearby swimming spots

The Guillamene's deep-water steps are just around the headland; Tramore's main strand is five minutes away.
