About Curracloe

Curracloe is a magnificent Blue Flag beach north of Wexford town, an 11-kilometre sweep of golden sand and dunes backed by the Raven Nature Reserve. It stood in for Normandy in Saving Private Ryan and for 1950s New York's shoreline in Brooklyn (2015). Lifeguarded in summer, it is hugely popular for walking, swimming and beginner surfing, with beach wheelchairs and a boardwalk at the White Gap entrance and lessons and rentals from the Surf Shack. The 10km Raven Loop threads through forest and beach for walkers and birdwatchers. A tidal drift means swimming is best within the flags.
