About Culleenamore Strand
Culleenamore is the quiet tidal strand just south of Strandhill on Ballysadare Bay, home to one of Ireland's largest seal colonies, which hauls out on the sandbanks at low tide. It is not a swimming beach — the tide fills and retreats very fast, reaching the golf-course edge at high water — so the visit is paddling, picnics, seals and birdwatching rather than a swim. Horses train here on early mornings, so keep dogs on leads. There is an old horse-racing history to the strand too.
