About Warren (Cregane Strand)

Warren, or Cregane Strand, is a sandy beach at the mouth of the Rosscarbery estuary in West Cork, where the tidal channel meets the open bay. The dune system behind the beach is designated a Natural Heritage Area, home to a distinct run of dune and estuary ecology worth slowing down for on the way to the sand. There is a car park and toilets, and the beach is lifeguarded in season, with notice boards on site for current conditions. Warren pairs naturally with Red Strand and Owenahincha a short way along this stretch of coast, three beaches within easy reach of each other on the Rosscarbery-to-Clonakilty run. Always check the notice boards and heed any lifeguard advice, particularly around the estuary mouth where currents can run differently to the open beach.
