About Trá na Rossan

Trá na Rossan is a secluded golden strand on the Rosguill peninsula, reached along the scenic Atlantic Drive and backed by wild, empty coastal scenery — seals are a common sight just offshore. Above the beach stands one of its quiet surprises: an An Óige youth hostel designed by the great architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, an unexpected piece of architectural history in so remote a setting. Parking near the beach is informal and still to be confirmed, so this is one to take slowly. A hill walk climbs behind the strand for a panorama over the peninsula and the islands beyond, and the west-facing sand makes it a fine place to catch one of Donegal's dramatic sunsets.
