About Sandycove

Sandycove is a small, sheltered sandy cove on the south Dublin coast, tucked beside the famous Forty Foot bathing place at Sandycove Point. Gentler and shallower than its neighbour, it is a favourite family spot for paddling and calm-water swims, overlooked by the Martello tower that houses the James Joyce Museum — Joyce set the opening of Ulysses here. The EPA classifies the water Good. Easily reached on the DART to Sandycove & Glasthule, it makes a natural pairing with a walk out to the Forty Foot and along Scotsman's Bay towards Dún Laoghaire. No lifeguard cover is shown, so supervise children closely and check local signage and tides before swimming.
