About Rathmullan

Rathmullan is a long strand of golden sand on the western shore of Lough Swilly, fronting one of Donegal's most historic villages. It was here, in September 1607, that the Earls of Tyrone and Tyrconnell set sail into exile in what became known as the Flight of the Earls — a heritage centre in the village tells the story in full. The beach itself is an easy, sheltered stretch of the lough shore, good for a long walk or a swim, with Rathmullan's pubs and shops close behind.
