About Pollan Bay (Ballyliffin)

Pollan Bay is a long sweep of sand below the village of Ballyliffin on the north coast of Inishowen, looking out to the distinctive hump of Glashedy Island offshore. It runs beside the famous Ballyliffin golf links — a natural pairing for a golfing visit, with more on the courses over on GolfIreland.ie — and at its northern end stand the atmospheric ruins of Carrickabraghy Castle on its rocky promontory. This is an open Atlantic beach with no lifeguard, better known for bracing walks and big skies than for bathing, and the exact parking arrangement near the sand is still to be confirmed. For a quiet strand with a golf links on one side and a medieval ruin on the other, it is hard to beat on the Inishowen coast.
