Newcastle Beach
About Newcastle Beach
Newcastle is a quiet shingle beach on the Murrough coastal strip, reached down Sea Road past Newcastle Aerodrome. It sits right beside the East Coast Nature Reserve, and the neighbouring Blackditch Wood is a BirdWatch Ireland reserve — so this is a beach for birdwatchers and walkers rather than crowds, and visitors should keep to paths and respect the reserve and its wildlife. Parking is at the end of Sea Road. It is not an EPA-monitored bathing water, so no official water-quality rating is available — take local conditions into account before swimming.
