Lissadell Beach
About Lissadell Beach
Lissadell is a set of secluded sandy beaches on Drumcliffe Bay below Lissadell House, in the heart of Yeats country with Benbulben rising behind. Reached through Drumcliffe and Carney down an unsignposted turn to the shore, it is a well-known kitesurfing beach with ample parking just off the road and no lifeguard, so swim with care. Lissadell House and the Gore-Booth and Markievicz story sit next door, and Yeats's grave at Drumcliffe is passed on the way. The hidden 'Burrow' beach, down the third turn, is the local secret.
