About Half Moon

The Half Moon Swimming Club sits out on the Poolbeg peninsula, along the dramatic Great South Wall that reaches into Dublin Bay towards the red Poolbeg Lighthouse. This is a swimmers' spot rather than a sandy beach — a club bathing place with real industrial-maritime character, framed by the twin chimneys and the working port. The EPA classifies the water Excellent. The walk out along the South Wall is a Dublin classic, exposed to wind and spray and worth doing for the views alone. The water is deep with no lifeguard cover, so it suits confident sea swimmers who check conditions first.
