About Garnish Beach, Lehanmore

Garnish Strand sits at the very tip of the Beara Peninsula near the Dursey cable car, a pair of fine white-sand beaches with usually very calm, child-friendly water. It is signposted on the road out to Dursey, with toilets near Garnish Post Office and Garnish Pier and its boat tours right alongside. The beach makes a perfect pause on a Beara road trip: the Dursey cable car — the only one in Ireland — is about five minutes away, and boat trips run from the pier out to the Bull, Cow and Calf islands with their gannet colonies and lighthouse. There is no lifeguard, so keep an eye on children, but the sheltered, gentle water makes Garnish one of the safest and prettiest family beaches at the western end of Beara.
