About Five Fingers Strand

Five Fingers Strand runs along Trawbreaga Bay near Malin on the Inishowen peninsula, backed by a range of dunes ranked among the highest in Europe. A small car park sits at the foot of a steep, narrow road that jams on busy days — many visitors find it easier to park up near the church and walk down — while the Knockamany Bends viewpoint above gives the classic panorama over the whole strand. This is an exposed Atlantic beach with no lifeguard and strong conditions, so it is best treated as a place for walking and photography; check conditions carefully before any thought of entering the water. The combination of towering dunes, wide sand and sweeping bay makes it one of the most photogenic corners of northern Inishowen.
