Dún Laoghaire Baths
About Dún Laoghaire Baths
Dún Laoghaire Baths, on the seafront at Newtownsmith between the East Pier and Sandycove, reopened in 2023 after a major restoration that brought back the historic pavilion, a new jetty and a revived public shoreline. It is a striking spot for a coastal walk. On water quality, though, honesty matters: in the EPA's latest classification the bathing water here is rated Poor — at the time of writing the only bathing water in the Republic of Ireland with that classification. Where a bathing water is rated Poor, the EPA advises against bathing. Enjoy the restored baths, the walk and the views, but do not swim here until the classification improves, and always check beaches.ie and on-site signage for the current advice.
