About Dooks Beach

Dooks is a sheltered sandy cove beside Dooks Golf Links near Glenbeigh, usually near-empty, with clear, calm water and long views to Inch and the Blasket Islands. It is also home to the endangered Natterjack Toad, one of Ireland's rarest amphibians, which breeds in the shallow pools among these dunes — a reminder to tread lightly. The catch is access: there is no parking at the beach, the approach lane is extremely narrow, locals block the verges, and visitors have genuinely damaged their cars trying to turn on it. The honest advice is simple — park at Dooks Golf Club and walk in, or come on foot or by bike from the Kerry Way side. Do that, and you are rewarded with one of the quietest, prettiest little strands in Kerry: hard to find, harder to forget.
