About Dollymount
Dollymount Strand runs for some 5km along Bull Island, a UNESCO Biosphere and one of Dublin's great natural treasures, reached across the wooden bridge from the Clontarf road. Backed by protected dunes and a haven for birdlife, it is a broad, breezy strand for walking, kite-flying and, when the wind is up, kitesurfing and windsurfing. The EPA classifies the water Good. Cars are traditionally allowed on parts of the strand, so watch for vehicles when walking with children, and keep to marked routes to protect the fragile dune-conservation zones. Check beaches.ie and signage before swimming, especially after heavy rain.
