Cromane is a quiet stony-and-sand shoreline on Castlemaine Harbour near Killorglin, looking across sheltered water towards Rossbeigh and the Dingle hills. The entry is shallow and the water usually calm and clear, which makes it a peaceful, low-key spot for a dip or a paddle away from the busier Ring of Kerry strands. This is a working mussel-fishing village, and its seafood pedigree shows: Jack's Coastguard Restaurant and The Boathouse café sit right by the shore. There is easy parking beside the beach, and at low tide you can walk out along the spit for wide harbour views. There is no lifeguard, so swim with the usual care, but the calm, protected setting makes Cromane one of the gentler, more relaxed corners of the Kerry coast.
