About Courtmacsherry Strand

Courtmacsherry Strand runs along the front of a pretty village on Courtmacsherry Bay, a sheltered estuary strand with a wooded backdrop and a promenade lined with shops and pubs. The village has a rich story: one of Ireland’s earliest lifeboat stations was established here in 1825, and the famous annual strand horse races still gallop along the sand each summer. Village parking and the seafront promenade make it an easy, sociable beach, better suited to walking, paddling and taking in the bay than to open-sea swimming. With its estuary setting, railway heritage and lively summer calendar, Courtmacsherry is as much a day out in the village as a visit to the beach.
