About Clogga Beach

Clogga is a quiet sandy cove tucked below the coast road south of Arklow, close to the Wicklow–Wexford border. It rewards the effort of finding it: a public car park at Clogga Cove, then a fern-lined path and a flight of steps down to the sand — a descent that rules it out for wheelchairs and buggies. There are no facilities beyond bins, which keeps it peaceful and uncommercialised. Public access is by the car-park path only; the neighbouring caravan park entrance is for residents. Clogga is an EPA-designated bathing water rated Excellent for the 2025 season, improved from Good in 2022-23 — but it has a history of occasional elevated bacteria readings, so never assume the water is clear; check the current annual classification on beaches.ie and heed local signage, especially after rainfall.
