About Claremont

Claremont Beach is Howth's own strand, a sandy stretch on the north side of the harbour looking out to Ireland's Eye. It is an easy, popular beach close to the village, well placed for combining a swim with a walk on the pier and a bag of Beshoff's chips, and it draws kitesurfers when the wind is right. On water quality, honesty matters: the EPA classifies the water here Sufficient — the lowest passing grade — so take that into account, swim with care, and check beaches.ie and signage, particularly after heavy rain. Balscadden Bay lies just around the Howth headland for a quieter, more sheltered dip.
