About Clahane (Liscannor)

Clahane, just outside Liscannor, is a rocky bathing spot and low-tide rock-pool shore on Liscannor Bay — not a sandy beach, but a much-loved swimming and snorkelling place that has grown from a hidden local secret into a year-round dipping spot. Swimmers and snorkellers come for the clear water and the wildlife: dolphins and porpoises are regularly seen offshore. At low tide the flat rocks fill with pools for children to explore, and the views sweep to Spanish Point and out to Mutton Island. Entry is over rock rather than sand, so take care and time your swim with the tide. The Cliffs of Moher and Moher Cottage are only minutes away, making Clahane an easy addition to a north Clare day out.
