Bertra Beach, Murrisk
About Bertra Beach, Murrisk
Bertra is a long Blue Flag sand spit at Murrisk on Clew Bay, reaching out beneath the holy mountain of Croagh Patrick. Lifeguarded in summer with safe, shallow water, it is a favourite for swimming, walking and watersports, with the pilgrim path up Croagh Patrick starting just across the road. The long tombolo, the island-studded bay and the mountain backdrop make it one of Mayo's most striking beaches.
