About Ballycroneen

Ballycroneen is an exposed sandy beach set either side of Ballycroneen village, east of Power Head on the East Cork coast. It is a favourite with dog-walkers and pairs naturally with the Ballycotton cliff walk, which you can follow on foot down to the sand, or reach through the village. This is an open, exposed shore with strong tides reported, so it suits a bracing walk more than a casual dip. There is no lifeguard, and conditions can change quickly, so check the sea before you go in and stay out of the water on rough days. For walkers and dog owners after a wild, uncrowded stretch of coast, Ballycroneen is a rewarding and quietly dramatic spot.
