Ballybunion South
About Ballybunion South
The South, or Men's, Beach is the broader of Ballybunion's two strands, opening below the headland and the town's ruined Geraldine castle. A Blue Flag beach with summer lifeguards, it gathers swimmers, walkers and surfers along its wide Atlantic sands. The clifftop promenade links it to the town centre, the amusements and the famous seaweed baths. Open to the Atlantic, it can carry a lively swell, so swimming is safest within the lifeguarded flags.
