⚠ Safety first: This strand is part of the tide-dependent Ballycotton Bay line. The low-tide walk along the sands is only safe on a falling or low tide — the incoming tide covers the beach and can cut you off, so check the tide times before setting out and turn back in good time.

About Ballinwilling

Ballinwilling is a quiet sandy strand flanking the eastern side of Garryvoe, and the calm alternative when the main Garryvoe beach is busy. Its name is spelled a few ways locally — you will also see Ballywilling — but Ballinwilling is the common form. There is a car park with a slip road down to the beach, and it sits on the same tide-dependent Ballycotton Bay strand line, so at low tide you can walk a long way along the sand in either direction. There is no lifeguard, so swim with care and keep an eye on the tide, which covers the beach as it comes in. For a peaceful stretch of East Cork sand within easy reach of Garryvoe's facilities, Ballinwilling is a reliable, uncrowded choice.
